International Adoptions

Its citizens also represent diverse mixed racial backgrounds, including Portuguese, African American, European and indigenous American.
Following three centuries under the rule of Portugal, Brazil became an independent nation in 1822. The only Portuguese-speaking country in South America, Brazil is by far the largest and most populous country on the continent.
The adoptions in Brazil are done through private attorneys. Most children are relinquished by the parent, rather than abandoned.
The Brazilian international adoption process follows the Hague Convention with Central Authorities on a "state-by-state" basis.
