Federal Government promotes numerous actions to help the municipalities of Bahia and Minas affected by heavy rains
National Civil Defense teams have been in Bahia since the 29th, helping to prepare requests for resources more quickly
 
A Federal Government task force continues to promote a series of actions to mitigate the impacts caused by the heavy rains that have occurred since the end of November in several municipalities in Bahia and in the north of the state of Minas Gerais.
 
The Ministry of Regional Development (MDR) recognized the emergency situation of 31 municipalities in Minas Gerais and 17 in Bahia, as a result of storms and intense rains that affected the regions and, in light of this, the Federal Government authorized the use of troops from the Brazilian Army in the rescue and relocation of people displaced by floods and floods.
 
This Sunday (12/12), the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, and the ministers of Regional Development, Rogério Marinho and of Citizenship, João Roma, should fly over areas affected by the floods, in the south of Bahia.
 
The MDR articulates, with the bodies of the Federal Civil Defense and Protection System, the development of joint activities aimed at providing immediate assistance to the affected population, and the National Center for Risk and Disaster Management (CENAD/SEDEC) operates on high alert – red.
 
National Civil Defense teams have been in Bahia since the 29th, helping to prepare requests for resources more quickly. The MDR has already released R$5.8 million to the following affected municipalities: Eunápolis, Itamaraju, Jucuruçu, Ibicuí, Ruy Barbosa, Maragogipe and Itaberaba. The respective Ordinances will be published in the Official Gazette of the Union (D.O.U) next Monday (13/12).
 
Technicians are visiting the affected municipalities to support city halls in the preparation of resource work plans and the National Secretariat for Civil Defense and Protection (Sedec) coordinates the interventions of other Federal Government bodies involved in this task force.
 
Check below the actions carried out by the bodies involved until the beginning of this Saturday night (12/12):
 
Ministry of Regional Development (MDR)
Mobilization of two teams from the Disaster Support Group (GADE) to support the affected municipalities:
GADE Base 1: Itamaraju – Establishment of State Command and Control. Gade establishing a Federal Base and technical support from the team for procedures with the municipalities;
GADE Base 2: Eunápolis – Technical support from the team for procedures with municipalities.
Articulation with the bodies of the Federal Civil Defense and Protection System – Monitoring and Response Axis for the development of joint activities, aimed at providing immediate assistance to the affected population;
Articulation with the state and municipal Civil Defense to respond to incidents and actions of relief, assistance and federal recognition;
Activation of the Armed Forces to support the response to occurrences.
The National Center for Risk and Disaster Management (CENAD/SEDEC) is operating on high alert, due to the rainfall recorded (around 300mm in the last 3 days), forecast accumulated for the next 48 hours (around 150mm) and human damage in the South Coast of Bahia.
Release of funds to affected municipalities. The transfer of R$5.8 million to localities in Bahia has already been authorized.
Ministry of Citizenship (MC)
Transfer of resources to the municipalities for the structuring of temporary shelters for displaced people and homeless, in the average amount of R$ 400 reais per person, providing all the necessary technical support to the municipality to access the resource, transferred via fund to fund. In addition, it is working in the emergency distribution of food baskets to families in the affected territories. Initial estimate of 32,000 baskets to be delivered.
Mobilization of the SUAS Network (Single Social Assistance System) and guidance of state and municipal social assistance managers regarding the request for federal co-financing, and the implementation and maintenance of temporary housing to accommodate families and individuals who are homeless/homeless .
Meeting with the State Social Assistance Superintendence to discuss actions related to the affected population.
National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel)
Constant follow-up and implementation of actions to maintain the stability of the communication network in the region.
