The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Regional Development (MDR), has state-of-the-art resources to act in major occurrences of natural disasters, such as heavy rains that hit the coast of the Northeast. On Thursday (06/02), the National Center for Risk and Disaster Management (Cenad) of the National Civil Defense produced, in partnership with the National Institute for Space Research (Inpe), high resolution satellite images of the state of Pernambuco. The material will help with actions to support the population and rescue victims.

The geoprocessing images are produced by the International Charter Space and Major Disasters. The Federal Government participates in a global cooperation mechanism that provides the free provision of this information, which is produced by 17 space agencies, based on information from 61 satellites, and used by 131 countries.

On Thursday (06/02), the Federal Government authorized the transfer of more than R$ 1.3 million to the Pernambuco city of Camaragibe, affected by heavy rains in recent days. The ordinance with the release of resources was published in the Official Gazette (DOU).

This is the first transfer to Pernambuco since the beginning of the occurrences. The city of Paudalho has also sent a request for resources, which is being analyzed by the National Civil Defense.
