Candidates who contested this year's elections must have a clear commitment and be the first - whether they won or not - to express their defense and confidence in the sovereign decision of the people.
Millions of Brazilians went to the polls this Sunday, 30, to write a new chapter in our history. Men and women expressed, through their votes, their desires for the construction of the Brazil of tomorrow. Each vote deposited in the ballot box is sovereign and carries with it the voter's confidence in the chosen candidate. Nobody wants, as Winston Churchill said, that democracy is perfect or without defects. We know that there is much to be improved, and therefore, we must be instruments for the construction of a solid and full democracy, every new day. We must never be agents of destruction and weakening of this regime which, among all the others, is the only one that gives us prospects for a better tomorrow because it can always be improved with the participation of all.

This Sunday, with the proclamation of the president who will lead the country for the next four years, we renew our commitment to Brazil, to democracy, to our citizen Constitution and to the Powers and Institutions that sustain our Republic. Candidates who contested this year's elections must have this clear commitment and be the first – whether they won or not – to express their defense and confidence in the sovereign decision of the people.

It is the duty of the new president to continue the economic advances achieved so far; it is the role of the new government to keep the focus on the debureaucratization and privatization agendas that will make our economy stronger; it is the mission of the new government to fight social inequalities not with cheap welfare, but through the creation of opportunities; it is the obligation of the new government not to promote the mockery of public money, whether through corruption or the rigging of state-owned companies, but to use it for the development of the country. It is the duty of the new government to guarantee individual liberties, ensure freedom of expression and the maintenance of a free press. Finally, it is the duty of the new government to act for the construction of a country project, never a personal project of the ruler or a political party.

Jovem Pan not only believes in and defends these duties and obligations, but will also be vigilant to ensure that they are fulfilled, because this is our commitment to the public that has been following us for 80 years. Jovem Pan will continue to act in defense of society, the family, individual freedoms, a minimal and less paternalistic State and economic and social development. And more importantly: Jovem Pan will not omit and will never accept affronts to the Democratic Rule of Law and the destruction of our country.
