With an estimated population of 175 thousand inhabitants, Itu, in São Paulo, will have R $ 22 million. Antônio Almeida, in Piauí, with around 4 thousand residents, will have R $ 1.5 million. The funds will be used in interventions such as paving roads, installing microdrain systems, public lighting and road signs, building a bike path and sidewalks with accessibility, measures to moderate traffic and preparing studies and projects. The funds for financing the works come from the Guarantee Fund for Seniority (FGTS), according to the provisions set out in the Transport Infrastructure and Urban Mobility Program (Pro-Transport). Avançar Cidades - Urban Mobility is divided into two groups, depending on the size of the municipality: Group 1, composed of cities with up to 250 thousand inhabitants, such as Itu and Antônio Almeida; and Group 2, which includes urban centers with a population of more than 250 thousand. Financing conditions The registration of projects for Avançar Cidades is continuous. Municipalities interested in improving the circulation of people in urban environments can submit proposals. Federal support is provided through the financing of mobility actions, aimed at road qualification, public (urban) transport, non-motorized transport (active transport) and the preparation of executive plans and projects. The nominal interest rate on the Pro-Transporte loan operations is 6% per year, with a differential rate of up to 2% and a credit risk rate of up to 1%. The term for the total discharge can reach 20 years, with a grace period of up to 48 months for the beginning of the payment..
