Vaccination campaign against Covid-19 won the reinforcement of 300 thousand units of Janssen/Johnson&Johnson this Thursday (24). With the application of a single dose, the immunizations were anticipated by the Ministry of Health.

 

The units join 1.5 million doses of the pharmaceutical received by the folder on Tuesday (22). “These vaccines are part of the effort we are making to guarantee the immunization of the Brazilian population. By September, 160 million Brazilians should receive a dose of hope in their arms”, stated the Minister of Health, Marcelo Queiroga.

 

With a shipment of 1.5 million from Janssen, Saúde has already anticipated more than 16 million doses of covid-19 vaccines.

 

The vaccines are part of a contract for 38 million doses between the Federal Government and Janssen. The initial forecast was that the immunizers were delivered from October this year to the National Immunization Program (PNI), of the Ministry of Health.

 

So far, the Ministry of Health has distributed more than 128 million doses of covid-19 vaccines from contracted laboratories. More than 91.5 million doses have already been applied, and almost 42% of the target population of 160 million Brazilians has already received the first dose of the vaccine. There are more than 67 million Brazilians with this stage of the vaccination cycle already completed.

 

Fiocruz

The Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz) will reinforce the production of covid-19 vaccines with the arrival of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (IFA) sufficient to manufacture 6 million doses. A new shipment of the input arrived in Brazil this Wednesday night (23) and guarantees weekly deliveries to the National Immunization Program (PNI), of the Ministry of Health, until 23 July.

 

The immunizing agent AstraZeneca/Fiocruz, produced by the foundation linked to the Ministry of Health, is the most distributed by the folder to the Brazilian states. In total, 58.8 million units have already been delivered, of which 54.8 million are produced by the Institute of Technology in Immunobiologicals (Bio-Manguinhos/Fiocruz), in Rio de Janeiro (RJ), with imported API, and 4 million doses who arrived from the Serum Institute, India, ready.

 

Fiocruz has a production capacity greater than the availability of API and, therefore, is negotiating the advance of the next shipments to continue the delivery of Covid-19 vaccines.

 

On June 1st, Fiocruz and the AstraZeneca laboratory signed the technology transfer agreement. The initiative will enable the production of vaccine with national IFA from October.

The Ministry of Health receives another batch of covid-19 vaccines produced by Pfizer/BioNTech. In total, 936,000 doses arrive at Viracopos airport, in Campinas (SP), this Thursday night (24). Vaccines should be distributed to states and the Federal District in the coming days.

 

This is the second batch to be delivered by pharmaceutical Pfizer to the ministry this week. On Tuesday (22), the folder received 529,000 doses and another flight is scheduled for next Sunday (27). In June, the forecast is that the laboratory will deliver 12 million doses.
